First of all that install is horrible,
why mount the modem on your wall in the open, also verizon uses old school fittings and splitters wich well being fiber optic experts (not cable had fiber first) you think they would come out with a better splitter and ends, plus they take your public access t.v and out the window it goes

[...] Verizon FiOS: The Installation Within this article Fragzem does a great job outlining the full process of how FiOS was installed in his home. He goes in to great detail and offers pictures of his speed test. Longer read but worth while if you are thinking of having FiOS installed. [...]

Oliver: the VOD and widgets use the coax instead of CAT5 to carry IP from the Actiontec router. You need a drop amp capable of passing back from the STB a 1000MHz or 1150MHz signal.

Fragzem: the coax connector is called an "F" connector _not_ a "BNC". F connectors are threaded and uses the coax center wire, where the BNC is a bayonet twist-locking connector with center pin.

I just had fios installed myself, I'm having a problem to one TV using an HD box.

It seems if I don't use my drop amplifier (scientific atlanta, 4 port), I get broken up picture and sound. But if I use the drop amplifier VOD and widgets don't work. I was wondering if you had ran into this same problem when you used your drop amplifier?

Hey bud hows it keeping.. Spotted your link a while back so keep tabs by reading.

I was looking at your speed test at the start of this post and think that its not a way to judge the speed of a browser.

From my understanding that speed test loads up a flash program which then downloads and uploads a file to a server. this will test the speed of your connection rather then the speed at which your browser loads a page. So the speed should be almost the same no matter what browser you use.

a way I would test the difference between Firefox and Internet explorer would be to find a web page that is using a lot of images and time which one opens faster.

Anyway keep the posting going bud. Its good to read and damn thats a fast connection pwns my 3mb anyday :P
